Action Comores is a voluntary conservation organization working in the Comoros Islands, which are situated in the Western Indian Ocean between Madagascar and mainland Africa. Our primary objective is to help alleviate the environmental problems of the Comores through scientific research, direct conservation and environmental education. Action Comores has visited the Comores regularly since 1992. The flagship species of our project is Livingstone’s flying fox (Pteropuslivingstonii). Livingstone’s flying fox is one of the rarest fruit bats in the world and is endemic to the Comores. Current population estimates suggest there are only around 1,000 individuals of this species left in the wild. |

The ARC works for the survival, health, & well-being of refugees, displaced persons, and those at risk, and seeks to enable them to rebuild productive lives. ARC is an international nonprofit, nonsectarian organization which has provided multisectoral humanitarian assistance and training to thousands of beneficiaries for over 20 years. ARC employs skilled professionals in health care, management & technical fields. Most have advanced degrees, program management & prior overseas experience. Overseas experience is required for employment in the field. In order for ARC to provide the highest quality of care and services, we need the most experienced professionals possible, who have proven abilities to adapt to and work within another culture. ARC overseas field staff are given a monthly salary depending on position and country posting (usually between $US 1,500-4,000 per mo.) R.T. air transport to and from country of service, health insurance and group housing are provided. |
